Emily Dickinson
A version of part of this quote, "We never know how good we are until we are called to rise," was on a silver dove ornament my CT gave me for Christmas. I think this pretty much explains my entire student teaching.
We never know how high we are
Till we are asked to rise
And then if we are true to plan
Our statures touch the skies --
The Heroism we recite
Would be a normal thing
Did not ourselves the Cubits warp
For fear to be a King --
